| Checkups and cleaning
A Regular checkups and cleanings by a dentist and hygienist are the best assurance of continuing good dental
health. Regular preventative dental care can prevent gum disease and aid in early detection of problems with your teeth, gums and supporting bone.
It only takes twenty four hours for plaque that is not removed from your teeth to turn into calculus (tartar)! Daily home cleaning helps control plaque and tartar formation, but those hard to reach areas will always need special attention.
The standard recommendation is to visit a dentist twice a year for check-ups and cleanings. This allows the dentist to check for problems you may not see or feel, help find signs of decay and treat any other oral health problems. Generally, the earlier a problem is found, the more manageable it is.
